In teaching vocabulary, I like to use flashcard, but creating my own flashcard can take some time and maybe even forever 😂.
Hence, I think it is best for me just to use templates or pdf I found in the internet and modify it the way I need it.
Here are some of them:
See? what a beautiful animal flashcard. My students really love that one. Teaching new animal words becomes so much fun by using flashcards.
Because it is required for expressing meaning and conveying thoughts through both receptive and productive skills, vocabulary is a crucial component of second/foreign language learning (Mehring, 2005, Carpenter & Olson, 2011). Cameron (2001) also believes that vocabulary is essential to language development at the basic level in order to enrich learners' language. As a result, there should be a method in place to assist children in learning vocabulary.
A teacher can use a variety of ways to effectively teach vocabulary, including word lists and flashcards. According to several studies, teaching with flashcards helps students memorize words more successfully than teaching with a word list (Komachali & Khodareza, 2012; Schmitt & Schmitt, 1995). According to Thornbury (2002), flashcards assist teachers in demonstrating a simple sequence of tasks to students.
Why are flashcards so effective in teaching vocabulary? Because vocabulary words are small chunks of data that can be completely randomized. You'll get streams of odd phrases when you listen to and speak the language in real life, right? So, in some ways, flashcard exercise is extremely similar to genuine skill development.
Remember that both SuperMemo and Anki were created by individuals who wanted to memorize a lot of words. The use of spaced repetition and the acquisition of foreign vocabulary appear to have a long history.
Is this to say that vocab review will have to follow the "traditional order of efficiency and obsession with grades/success/testing"? No. No, I don't believe so.
So far, my new Spanish picture flashcards have proven to be rather enjoyable. I like how simple it is to enter a "Spanish" altered state of consciousness.
